The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of C. L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy plays a pivotal role in guiding students toward successful professional careers in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. The placement cell works continuously to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by organizing various training programs, career development initiatives, and industry interactions. During the academic year 2024–2025, the placement cell undertook several initiatives to support students of B.Pharm, M.Pharm, and Pharm.D programs in securing employment opportunities and higher education placements.
At the beginning of the academic year, the placement cell conducted orientation sessions to help students understand the wide range of career opportunities available in the pharmaceutical field. These sessions introduced students to career paths such as pharmaceutical production, quality control, formulation research and development, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, clinical research, hospital pharmacy, marketing, medical coding, and academic careers. Students were encouraged to explore career options that matched their individual interests, strengths, and professional aspirations.
A series of career guidance lectures and expert talks were organized throughout the year, featuring speakers from pharmaceutical industries, hospitals, research organizations, and healthcare companies. These sessions provided valuable insights into current industry trends, emerging technologies, and the skills required for success in the pharmaceutical sector. Industry experts shared practical knowledge regarding recruitment processes, professional expectations, and career growth opportunities in different pharmaceutical domains.
In addition to career guidance programs, the institution conducted comprehensive soft skills development training for final-year students. These training sessions focused on communication skills, professional etiquette, resume preparation, interview techniques, group discussion strategies, and aptitude training. The aim of these programs was to enhance the employability of students and prepare them for competitive recruitment processes. Mock interviews and practice aptitude tests were also conducted to help students gain confidence and improve their performance during campus recruitment drives.
The placement cell also actively engaged with pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and healthcare organizations to create employment opportunities for graduating students. Both on-campus and off-campus placement drives were coordinated during the academic year. The institution maintained regular communication with industry partners and alumni networks to identify potential job openings and internship opportunities for students.
For the B.Pharm program during the academic year 2024–2025, a total of 103 students graduated within the minimum stipulated time. Among them, 47 students secured placements in various pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations. Additionally, 24 students opted to pursue higher education in specialized areas of pharmaceutical sciences. Eight students initiated self-employment or entrepreneurial activities, while a few students explored other career opportunities. The median salary offered to placed students was approximately ₹2.75 lakh per annum.
Several companies participated in the recruitment process through on-campus placement drives. A total of 18 students were placed through on-campus recruitment. Major recruiters included Indian Healthcare BPO, which recruited 10 students, Shield Healthcare with 5 students, Apollo Pharmacy with 2 students, and Alembic Pharma Pvt. Ltd., which recruited 1 student. These companies offered roles in healthcare services, pharmaceutical operations, and clinical support activities.
Off-campus placements also contributed significantly to the overall placement performance. A total of 29 students secured employment through off-campus recruitment processes. Students were recruited by well-known pharmaceutical and healthcare companies such as Madras Pharma, Pfizer, Apotex Research, Ajuba Healthcare, Fourrts, Elbrit Lifesciences, Gladstone Pharma, Intas Pharmaceuticals, Xemex Pharmaceuticals, Navitas Lifescience, Optival, Mankind Pharma, Zydus, MGM Healthcare, DRS Biopharma, SMOConnect Clinical Research, Softgel Healthcare, Medcode, MediHauxe International India, and AGS Healthcare. These organizations offered opportunities in various areas including pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, clinical research, medical coding, healthcare services, and regulatory support.
The M.Pharm program also demonstrated encouraging placement outcomes. In the academic year 2024–2025, a total of 42 students completed the program within the minimum stipulated time. Among them, 26 students secured placements in pharmaceutical industries, research organizations, and academic institutions. One student opted for higher studies, while several graduates initiated self-employment or startup ventures. The median salary offered to M.Pharm graduates remained consistent at approximately ₹3.20 lakh per annum.
Notably, several postgraduate students were recruited for teaching positions, highlighting the strong academic training provided by the institution. Nine students joined C. L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy as teaching faculty, while two students were placed at Viora Innovation Pvt. Ltd. through on-campus recruitment. Additionally, fifteen students secured off-campus placements in various pharmaceutical industries and research organizations.
The Pharm.D program also achieved commendable placement outcomes during the academic year. Out of 30 students graduating in the minimum stipulated time, 22 students were successfully placed in hospitals, clinical research organizations, pharmacovigilance centers, and healthcare companies. One student pursued higher education, while several students engaged in self-employment or healthcare-related professional services. The median salary offered to Pharm.D graduates during this period was approximately ₹3.20 lakh per annum. Pharm.D graduates were recruited for positions such as clinical pharmacists, pharmacovigilance associates, patient counselors, clinical research coordinators, and healthcare consultants. These placements reflect the growing demand for clinically trained pharmacy professionals in the healthcare sector.
Overall, the placement performance during the academic year 2024–2025 reflects the continuous efforts of the Career Guidance and Placement Cell to enhance the employability of students and strengthen industry connections. The institution remains committed to providing comprehensive career support through training programs, industry collaborations, and placement assistance. Through sustained engagement with industry partners, regular career development initiatives, and student-centered training programs, C. L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy continues to prepare its graduates for successful professional careers in pharmaceutical sciences, healthcare services, research, and academia. The placement cell will continue to expand industry partnerships and provide enhanced career guidance to further improve placement outcomes in the coming years.
