R. Vijayakumar holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from J.K.K. Natrajah College of Pharmacy (1997–2001) and a Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) from C.L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy (2004–2006), both affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, and has 19 years of teaching and research experience along with prior industry experience as a manufacturing chemist from 2001 to 2004.
