Overview

Dr. P. Amudha is currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology at C.L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy, Chennai, with over 25 years of academic and research experience. She began her career as a Lecturer at SRM College of Pharmacy, Kattangulathur (1995–2000), later serving as Assistant Professor (2002–2004), followed by her tenure as Assistant Professor at Mohamed Satak A.J. College of Pharmacy, Chennai (2004–August 2006), and subsequently as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at C.L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy from September 2006 onward. She completed her Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 2014 from Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER), Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, her M.Pharm in Pharmacology in 2002 from University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kakatiya University, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, and her B.Pharm in 1995 from Madras Medical College, affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. Dr. Amudha has authored 73 research publications with a Google Scholar citation count of 301, an H-index of 9, and an i10-index of 9, and has delivered numerous presentations while also contributing to two book chapters.

Pre clinical study in CNS includes anti-anxiety, Parkinsonism, ADHD, Alzeimer, antidepressant and affective disorders.

Metabolic disorders like antidiabetic, hypercholesterolemia and anti-obesity, anti-ulcer, analgesic, anti inflammatory, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune disorders: Psoriasis, contact dermatitis and anti- cancer study.

Pre clinical study also includes PCOS and PCOD screening in animal models.

Her PG Clinical research was in Leprosy. M.Leprae load in Leprosy patients nasal flushing before and after treatment of nasal drops.

She has also completed many funded projects in academia-industry collaborations in her field and continues to inspire excellence. She has successfully guided 30 M.Pharm Pharmacology Postgraduates and also guided doctoral scholars in Pharmacy, Siddha and Ayurveda.

She is a member of the doctoral committee for Ph.D. candidates under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Vels University and SRMC University. She is also member secretory in IAEC at C.L. Baid Metha College of Pharmacy. And she also a member of  IEC, LASA, APTI, IPA, & CPCSEA  where she contributes to the evaluation and development of emerging researchers.
