Overview
Dr. J. Gomathi is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Pharmaceutics with over 13+ years of teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She completed her Ph.D. from Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation in 2020, with research focused on advanced nano drug delivery systems. She obtained her M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics from Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation in 2012 and earned her B.Pharm degree from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in 2002. In addition to her formal academic qualifications, she also completed a Medical Transcription certification from Medilogistics, Chennai, in 2007, enhancing her expertise in medical documentation and healthcare communication.
Her core research interests include novel drug delivery systems, niosomes, proniosomes, gastroretentive systems, microspheres, transdermal drug delivery systems, herbal drug formulation, and chronomodulated drug delivery. She has published extensively in Scopus, PubMed, and UGC CARE indexed journals, contributed book chapters, authored textbooks, and guided multiple undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. She also serves as a reviewer for various reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
Dr. Gomathi has presented more than 18+ research papers at prestigious national and international conferences. Her scholarly contributions have received 3 citations with an h-index of 1. Her conference presentations primarily focus on niosomal drug delivery, gastroretentive systems, pulsatile drug delivery, nano drug delivery technologies, and cosmeceuticals with novel formulation approaches. In addition to her research contributions, she has actively participated in more than 80 conferences, seminars, workshops, and faculty development programmes, reflecting her strong commitment to continuous learning and academic advancement.
She is a Life Member of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association and actively participates in national and international academic activities. Dr. J. Gomathi is a recognized Ph.D. research guide under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and guides scholars leading to the award of a Ph.D. degree.

Enhanced Bioavailability and Anti-tumor Effect of Raloxifene by Modified Pluronic Proniosomes: In-Vitro and In-Vivo Evaluation (Patent Application No.: E-2/846/2019-CHE) filed with the Indian Patent Office. The invention was developed by Dr. J. Gomathi et al., focusing on improving the bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of Raloxifene through a modified pluronic proniosomal drug delivery system.
- Formulation and Evaluation of Film-Coated Tablets of Azithromycin USP. This paper was presented at the National Seminar on Current Trends in Drug Discovery and Novel Drug Delivery, a National Conference held on 27 September 2014 at Nirma College of Pharmacy. The study focused on the formulation and evaluation of film-coated tablets of Azithromycin USP to enhance stability and patient compliance.
- Formulation and Evaluation of Nebivolol Mucoadhesive Matrix Tablet for Oral Controlled Release. This research work was presented at the International Conference on “Novel Polymeric Materials in Pharmacy and Engineering” on 12 March 2015 at Shree Dhanvantary Pharmacy College. The study emphasized the development of a mucoadhesive matrix tablet of Nebivolol for sustained oral controlled drug release.
- Formulation and Evaluation of Gastro-Retentive Floating Tablet of Quinapril. This paper was presented at the 67th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress, a National Conference held from December 19–21, 2015 at JSS University, Mysuru, Karnataka. The research focused on developing a gastro-retentive floating tablet to improve the bioavailability of Quinapril.
- Formulation and Evaluation of Nevirapine-Loaded Niosomes. This work was presented at the International Conference on Emerging Pharma Innovations – Challenges & Strategies on October 7, 2016 at Sri Krishna College of Pharmacy & Research, Kerala. The study explored the formulation of niosomal drug delivery systems for improved therapeutic efficiency of Nevirapine.
- Impact of Sodium Starch Glycolate in the Disintegration of Levamisole Chewable Tablets. This research was presented at the 68th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress, a National Conference held from December 16–18, 2016 at JSS University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The study evaluated the role of superdisintegrants in enhancing tablet disintegration performance.
- Formulation and Evaluation of Mouth Dissolving Famotidine Tablets. This paper was presented at the 1st Indian Pharmaceutical Sciences Congress, a National Conference held on 18–19 March 2017 at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru. - Fabrication and Evaluation of Capecitabine-Loaded Proniosomes Using Different Non-Ionic Surfactants. This paper was presented at the National Seminar on Recent Advances in Drug Delivery Strategies and Clinical Research held on October 12–13, 2018 at Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru. The research emphasized the development of proniosomal systems to enhance drug stability and bioavailability.
- Formulation and Evaluation of Mouth Dissolving Tablets of Antiemetic Drug Metoclopramide. This work was presented at the International Conference on Drug Development and Clinical Research: Current Scenario & Opportunities on 10 November 2018 at Sankaralingam Bhuvaneswari College of Pharmacy, Sivakasi. The study focused on improving patient compliance through fast-dissolving dosage forms.
- Pharmaceutical Ethics and Law Sciences. This paper was presented at the International Conference on Bioethics in Health Sciences held from 8–10 November 2019 at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, SRM IST, Chennai. The presentation highlighted the importance of ethical principles and legal aspects in pharmaceutical practice.

- Design, Fabrication and Characterization of Transdermal Patches for Migraine Management Using Different Natural Polymers.This research was presented at the Indi-Caribbean International Conference on Global Trends in Drug Design, Discovery, Development and Pharmaceutical Sciences held on 7–8 March 2025 at Seven Hills College of Pharmacy, Venkatramapuram, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The study focused on developing transdermal patches using natural polymers for effective migraine management.

Dr. J. Gomathi was honored with the Young Scientist Award in 2021 by the VDGOOD Professional Association at the International Scientist Awards on Engineering, Science and Medicine, in recognition of her significant contributions to research and academic excellence.

Dr. J. Gomathi received the Teacher Award during the “A Tribute to the Torchbearers of Knowledge” celebration held on 7th September 2025 at the Below Sea Level Banquet Hall, VGP Marine Kingdom, ECR, Injambakkam, acknowledging her dedication and excellence in teaching.

Under the guidance of Dr. J. Gomathi, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, our students Jaisai D, Sri Kaviya R, and Vidhyalakshmi secured First Prize in the National Level Online Presentation Competition (Online Poster Presentation) conducted by Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research on 29th April 2024, reflecting her strong mentorship and academic leadership.
